After surviving a devastating house fire while her dad Brent Carlson was deployed, Nala became a source of hope for her military family as they faced tremendous loss and began rebuilding their lives. Dogs on Deployment?s Hero Pet Boarding Network gave Nala and her bonded companion, Bella, a safe place to stay together until they could return home to their family. Named the 2025 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment mascot, Nala turned her remarkable story of survival into a message of resilience, gratitude, and hope for others facing life?s hardest moments.

We?re bringing Dogs on Deployment?s past mascot shirts back from the archives as we prepare to search for the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment?s 15th Mascot.
Each mascot represents a chapter in Dogs on Deployment?s history and the military families and pets at the heart of our mission. This limited collection gives our community a chance to revisit those stories, celebrate the mascots who represented us through the years, and support the work that continues today.
Past mascot designs will return to the archives when the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year is announced on January 1st, 2027.
