When Navy flight school student ENS Ren Hester faced months of training away from home, Dogs on Deployment?s Hero Pet Boarding Network connected her with a volunteer boarder who welcomed Daisy and her canine companion, Grouse, until they could reunite with Ren. Named the 2024 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment mascot, Daisy became a symbol of the organization's founding mission, showing how volunteer support helps military members fulfill their duties without giving up their beloved pets. Together, Daisy and Ren raised awareness about the importance of military pet boarding resources and the emotional stability pets provide during the demanding journey of military service.

We?re bringing Dogs on Deployment?s past mascot shirts back from the archives as we prepare to search for the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment?s 15th Mascot.
Each mascot represents a chapter in Dogs on Deployment?s history and the military families and pets at the heart of our mission. This limited collection gives our community a chance to revisit those stories, celebrate the mascots who represented us through the years, and support the work that continues today.
Past mascot designs will return to the archives when the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year is announced on January 1st, 2027.
