Linda was an injured stray struggling to survive in Bulgaria when U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Phil Shapiro found her during a military exercise, beginning a remarkable bond that would change both their lives. After being rescued and brought to the United States, Linda became Phil?s loyal companion through deployments, relocations, and adventures around the world. As the 2021 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment mascot, Linda used her extraordinary journey to champion the Pet PCS Program, helping raise awareness about the challenges military families face when relocating overseas with their beloved pets.

We?re bringing Dogs on Deployment?s past mascot shirts back from the archives as we prepare to search for the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year and Dogs on Deployment?s 15th Mascot.
Each mascot represents a chapter in Dogs on Deployment?s history and the military families and pets at the heart of our mission. This limited collection gives our community a chance to revisit those stories, celebrate the mascots who represented us through the years, and support the work that continues today.
Past mascot designs will return to the archives when the 2027 American Hero Pet of the Year is announced on January 1st, 2027.
